ROLAND GUERIN
Louisiana native Roland Guerin learned bass from his blues and zydeco playing mother. The New Orleans bassist / singer / songwriter / producer has toured the world with legends including George Benson, Alvin Batiste, Jimmy Scott, Allen Toussaint, Dr. John (as Music Director), Ellis Marsalis, Marcus Roberts, Brian Blade and Paul Gilbert. His 2019 album “Grass Roots” [Louisiana Red Hot Records] was reviewed as “full of approachable but sophisticated compositions that echo many of his interests, spanning R&B, rock, jazz, blues, funk, folk and more."

As a member of the Marcus Roberts Trio, Guerin performed with the Berlin Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony, the Chicago Symphony, and Seiji Ozawa’s New Japan Philharmonic. Guerin joined the Allen Toussaint Band in 2008, touring with him until Toussaint passed in 2015. He then joined the band of Dr. John, becoming The Night Tripper's final Musical Director. Guerin has most recently toured with guitar legend Paul Gilbert, and Brian Blade and the Fellowship Band.

In 2021, Guerin won Burl Audio’s International Song of the Year Contest with LRHR's public service song “28 Days” - winning the finishing touches on gear for his state of the art home studio in New Orleans. Guerin resumed touring with the Marcus Roberts Trio in 2022, playing Gershwin at The Grange in Hampshire UK, on the BBC, and in 2023 at the Mahalia Jackson Theater in New Orleans. His new Prog:Funk merges bass-driven progressive music styles with melodies, rhythms and storytelling techniques born from the legends Guerin performed with for decades. His new EP “Prog:Funk” was released on Louisiana Red Hot Records in 2024, making Tidal’s 50 Most Out There Jazz releases, and Apple Music’s curated New in Rock.

NOLA / Gambit’s music critic wrote: "The bass riff-heavy “I Propose” touches on those months’ competition for digital attention, while wishing people would be more drawn to cooperation and community. “Crunch Time” is a patient, dreamy track about growing older and realizing the preciousness of time and the moments shared with others. On the EP’s catchy closer, “Bridge to Open Waters” — which gives the name to the upcoming full-length — Guerin urges listeners to open their minds to changes that push society forward.”

The full “Bridge to Open Waters” album is planned for spring of 2025.
For over 25 years, Louisiana Red Hot Records has specialized in providing the world with a rich catalog of more than 200 albums from a brilliant array of Funk [Roland Guerin], Folk [Father Ron and Friends], Jazz [Corey Henry] and Rock [Cyril Neville] musicians. LRHR believes in the healing power of music, and continues to proudly represent the legendary artists of Louisiana.
